Cavity Wall Insulation
The average un-insulated house may be losing as much as 35% of its wasted heat
through the external walls. Stopping this heat loss with cavity wall insulation
can significantly reduce your heating bills.
How it works
Mineral fibre wool is injected into the gap (cavity), between the inner and
outer walls of the house. This prevents heat loss through the walls hence
reducing the amount of heating required to maintain a comfortable temperature.
It increases your home’s energy efficiency and may help to reduce your carbon
footprint.
It takes less than half a day to install cavity wall insulation in the
average house.
Grants
Home owners and private tenants qualify for a significant grant under the
government’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Target scheme (CERT). This can be as
much as 50% of the cost and may bring the actual price of cavity wall insulation
down to as little as £199 (subject to survey).
Those who are over 70 or on qualifying benefits may be entitled to free home
insulation.
Local Authority and Housing Association tenants are not covered by the CERT
grant but should contact their landlords to find out what arrangements are in
place.
Guarantee
The finished work is guaranteed for 25 years under the Cavity Insulation Guarantee
Scheme. Once the work is complete, the installer will register your home under the
scheme and you will be sent a certificate of guarantee. This guarantee is
transferable from owner to owner so you should keep it and make it available to
the new owner at the time of sale.
Arrange an insulation survey
We can arrange for a specialist insulation surveyor to assess your home free of
charge and without obligation.
