Plug-in Solar is Coming
What is plug-in solar?
Plug-in solar is exactly what it sounds like. A compact solar kit that generates electricity from sunlight and feeds it directly into your home through a standard wall socket.
The InstaGen plug-in solar kit comprises three components working together:
- Two high-performance 435W bifacial all-black solar panel, the same panel used in our full roof installations
- An 800VA microinverter that converts the solar energy into usable electricity compatible with your home’s mains supply
- A flexible mounting frame that attaches to gardens, balconies, railings, walls, and other surfaces*, with a manually adjustable tilt angle to maximise generation
Two panels connected to one microinverter can generate up to 800W, which across a day of reasonable sunlight can meaningfully offset your electricity consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, though output will be lower than on a bright day. The InstaGen panel is a bifacial design with strong weak-light performance, meaning it continues to generate in overcast conditions rather than stopping entirely.
You must notify your Distribution Network Operator when the Plug-in Solar system is connected and if it is permanently disconnected.
Yes. Because the system requires no permanent structural changes, it can be dismounted and reinstalled at a new property.

*The system may be installed only in the mounting arrangements specifically approved by InstaGen. Installation suitability will depend on the supporting structure, fixing method, building height, wind exposure and surface material. Please check the installation instructions before installing the product. Additional restrictions may apply near property boundaries, escape routes and areas where fire could spread.
