Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an electrician to install plug-in solar?
In most cases, no. The system is designed to be simple to install yourself, as long as your socket and electrical circuit are modern, clearly identified, properly protected, and in good working condition.
That said, if you’re not sure about the condition of your circuit, notice any damage to the socket, have older electrical protection, or need to make any electrical changes, you should have a qualified electrician take a look or handle the installation for you.
Will plug-in solar work on cloudy days?

Yes, though output will be lower than on a bright day. The InstaGen panel is a bifacial design with strong weak-light performance, meaning it continues to generate in overcast conditions rather than stopping entirely.

Do I need to notify anyone before installing plug-in solar panels?

You must notify your Distribution Network Operator when the Plug-in Solar system is connected and if it is permanently disconnected.

Can I take plugin-in solar panels with me if I move house?

Yes. Because the system requires no permanent structural changes, it can be dismounted and reinstalled at a new property.
