The Hamstreet Sports Pavilion had long struggled with high electricity costs. A Solar PV installation helped lower expenses, but surplus solar energy was exported to the grid rather than stored for later use. Moreover, during the winter months—when electricity demand is highest—the panels produced little power, leaving the Pavilion exposed to expensive peak electricity rates. With power only used when the football club was open, much of the solar being generated was being lost through the week, rather than being stored for use when the clubhouse Pavilion was open.

With InstaGen now installed, the pavilion can store excess solar production for later use and on days with limited solar generation, particularly in winter, the battery charges from the grid during off-peak periods when electricity is up to 70% cheaper on domestic properties*
