In February of this year we joined developer and contractor Ameresco for a retrofit project in Carmarthenshire, south-west Wales, where we were commissioned to install insulation for five schools.
InstaGroup has worked with Ameresco on previous projects, and we’ve built a strong working partnership. We share the same commitment to forward-planning, and for carrying out works with minimum disruption. This is a particularly important factor when planning installations for public buildings such as schools, which need to be kept open for use.
Installing insulation for five schools
The schools were traditional buildings, and the works were to fully-fill all cavity walls and insulate each loft space up to today’s energy efficiency standards.
Installing Cavity Wall insulation and Loft insulation for all five of the schools was carefully organised to take place during the half-term holiday, from 12th-16th February 2024. The project had to be completed within the set timeline to ensure the buildings would be ready to welcome pupils back after the spring break.
Working within the school holiday also gave our team safe and uninterrupted access to vital loft and wall areas.
Industry-leading solutions from InstaGroup
InstaGroup is trusted for supplying some of the best thermal solutions within the industry. All the products and systems we use are BBA-approved, meeting the highest of safety and quality standards. Our fully-supervised teams are trained to install materials to the required specifications.
The insulation materials chosen for the cavity walls were InstaFibre 040 and InstaBead Carbon Saver. Knauf Earthwool 44 was specified for the loft and ceiling areas.
Over the five schools, InstaGroup installed a total of 1,323m2 of InstaFibre and 832m2 of InstaBead, plus 3,519m2 of Knauf Earthwool 44 loft roll.
Altogether, we installed 5,674m2 of combined cavity wall and loft spaces across the schools.
Team work that works
Productive teamwork between InstaGroup and Ameresco meant the school retrofit project could be accurately planned and delivered to specification without any delays. The client is very happy with the way InstaGroup operate.

A warm welcome back to school
With around 30% of heat lost through walls and ceilings, the installation of InstaGroup insulating materials will make classrooms and playrooms warmer, while saving on heating bills for the schools.
